i just bought a taurus 24/7 pro ds. it states this on the side of the the hand gun. however, i can not find the ds anywere on the net not have i seen it in stores before. my question is what the difference between the pro and pro ds is if any? it looks the same as the pro. it carrys the same 17 mag that the pro carries and its a 9mm just liks the pro comes in. also whats the largest mag i can buy for this gun? and are there any silencers avalible and where if so?

DS stands for decocker safety.
You push the safelty beyond the normal SAFE stop and it decocks the weapon.

17 rnd is the largest mag for the gun.

As for supressors... dunno.

Please help to find a description/specification for PT 24/7 Pro C DS, .45, SS?
Taurus doesn't have that model on their website yet (they suck at updating that site) but basically it is identical to other 24/7 Pro .45 Stainless models. The only difference is the decocker safety and the striker position indicator on the back. Although they may have changed the sights back to 3 dot.

I just got my 24/7 pro ds yesterday and I was confused about the ds also. I also thought I'd get the ribber grip, but it's just plastic. I had to order mine without ever seeing one in person so I didn't know exactly what I was getting. In the owners manual it mentions an "LS" version of the 24/7 pro and a "STD" version. What is the difference between the two.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I have another question about the "ds" on the slide of my 24/7 pro ds. I paid $350 for mine about 2 weeks ago. Today I seen one for $400. Same as mine except it doesn't have the ds on the slide and it was a new gun. I read on the post that the ds refers to the decocking saftey. Is Taurus currently making new 24/7 pros in a ds and non ds model. Or, did the non ds get phased out by the ds model. I see this price difference and I'm thinking either I got a great deal, or maybe the "ds" is like the economy version of the 24/7 pro. And I never got the ribber grip, plus my sights were three dot not the straight eight i thought I was getting. When I ordered the gun there was no mention of the ds buisness.

Does anyone know if the 24/7pro ds comes in a compact 9mm? That would be the gun I would buy, if Taurus is making one. I prefer the shorter barrel and want to have the option to decock the striker.

Thanks.
It does. I had one in my hands on Friday at the local gun shop. It was gorgeous... even had the Novak sights and ribber grip, not the plastic checkered grip and Heine sights. I was pretty jacked about it, and nearly bought it. I'm waiting till they get a .40 S&W in though. They had a .45 too, with the only difference being the grip. It had the same plastic grip as the original .45's, the plastic version of the ribber grip. Fair pricing for both, $370.

Great. I am off to my dealer tomorrow to see if they can order it for me. Good to learn that it comes with the rubber grip and Novak sights.

They always said the 45 did not come with the ribber grips I suspect do to the added torque. you can buy many after market slip on grips that are just as comfotable. by the way give it a chance its pretty comfortable as is. :) great shooting gun!

Yeah, its a shame that the DS feature inst that well documented. Several of the gunshops that I visited in town this weekend didn't even know what I was talking about when I mentioned it.

Does anyone know if its possible to add the DS feature to a regular PRO?
I really doubt it. The decocking feature is great. I don't want a gun without it. I want my first trigger pull to be long and hard, and a manual saftey too.

I purchased my 9mm Pro DS two weeks ago. I had it on layaway for about three weeks before I picked it up. When I put it on layaway, the gun I fondled was not the DS version (only difference I can remember is that the one I fondled had the "ribber" grips or decocker). I am glad I ended up with the DS.

The compact version of the 45 shoots great and yes it pacts a punch but I have several 1911's and in a gunfite it would not be noticed. I'd rather have the bigger manstopper and compactness makes this gun really worth it I can put it in my front pocket of cargo pants with the 10 round mag in with the 12 round mag its the same feel as the regular.

The ds is short for dual sight. if you look at your gun the back sight have 2 dots and one dot on the barrle. other wise you will have one dot, i wish i would have bought a Ds model
Oooo. Sorry. Please play again.

DS stands for decocker/safety. (I do like the "dual sight" theory however, Timmotd :D)

Txshooter---the DS lever acts as both a safety and a decocker---up position is safe, while pressing down below the fire position will decock the striker and set the pistol in double action mode for the first trigger pull.
